You can read this site without an account and without giving us your name or email. We do not sell personal information. Advertising on the site is provided by Google, which uses cookies as described below.

Requests. Like most websites, the servers that deliver this site record standard technical details of each request: IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. They are used to keep the site running and secure.

Searches. What you type into the search box is sent to our server to find matching pages. It is not linked to your identity.

Calculators. Numbers you enter into a calculator are worked out in your browser and are not sent to us.

Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics, loaded with Google's own tag, which records visits with cookies or similar identifiers. Google explains how it uses this information, and you can turn it off with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

This site does not show ads yet. When it does, they will be served by Google AdSense and the following will apply.

• Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your earlier visits to this and other websites.
• Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet.

The site is written for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

When this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes take effect when they are posted here.
